

12 April 2012 Mayoral Candidate Tom Tate has called for an urgent review of the Light Rail project.
Mr Tate said that recent events including the change of government at a state level, revelations about the state of the GCCC finances and ballooning debt levels we face as a city, and the growing community unease around costs and benefits of the project had prompted his call for a review by the state and Council. “Circumstances mean we have the opportunity to pause and take a look at the project and see if we can get a better outcome,” Mr Tate said. “We have to determine what can be done to either adapt and alter or mitigate and manage the Light Rail project,” Mr Tate said. Tom Tate nominates for Mayor
Mayoral Candidate Tom Tate will today nominate for Mayor, visiting the local Queensland State Electoral Commission office at Bundall. Mr Tate said he was running for Mayor because the people of the Gold Coast needed certainty and confidence. “Right now, this city needs certainty and confidence,” Mr Tate said.
